From the region – for the region. For more sustainability.

Closed loops for paper

In a highly competitive market such as the printing industry, it is important to successfully differentiate oneself with suitable products and services. For Pinguin Druck, the solution lies in demonstrably sustainable offers and printing solutions. Short distances in and around Berlin offer many options. But Pinguin Druck wanted to successfully take the next step and establish a completely closed loop.

With paper that comes from the region - both in terms of the raw material paper fibres and the production. Paper that is collected, produced and delivered under resource-conserving and environmentally friendly conditions. Waste paper is a very special raw material with a past, present and future. It can be used to produce excellent and innovative papers in a more sustainable way.

Printed products made from regionally produced recycled paper

Active sustainability with fiberloop

Whether publisher, brand manufacturer, printer or advertiser: anyone who uses LEIPA fiberloop papers makes an active contribution to sustainable environmental protection. Our papers are manufactured on a 100% recycled basis. This means we use 60% less energy and 40% less water than conventional paper manufacturers*.

Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, the recyclability of the raw material paper fibre at LEIPA is more than 10 times higher - thus relieving the burden on forests, the environment and nature.

* Compared to virgin fibre-based paper production. The basis for the comparison are the BAT values of the EU.

Environmentally friendly recycled paper from Schwedt – sustainable printing in Berlin

The picture printing paper made from 100 % recycled material from the Oder River

As a joint project, Pinguin Druck and LEIPA have developed a new picture printing paper for the offset sheet in 130 g/m². The matt-coated, natural surface conveys elegance in images and text. The balanced, discreet whiteness of a good 82 % according to ISO offers high readability. LEIPA Square or Delta 130 impresses with its high opacity. Due to the 1.1-fold volume, the paper offers an excellent feel while at the same contributing to the conservation of resources. We have other grammages from 70 to 130 g/m² and 150 to 270 g/m² from the LEIPA Square Oder series in our range.

Recyclables

Recyclables

In its production, Pinguin Druck pays strict attention to low waste and focuses on sustainability in the disposal of consumables such as paper, printing plates, oils, bio-inks, and residual inks. Unavoidable residual waste is recycled where possible and returned to the reusable materials cycle.

Regional partnerships and resource-saving implementation

The paper cycle

With a demand for 1.5 million tons of wastepaper per year, LEIPA focuses on regional recovered paper availability - as close as possible to the Schwedt/Oder site. This is why Berlin and Brandenburg are the first choice for raw material collection. Berlin and the region thus exemplify a circular economy in which the raw material for paper comes from the region, is processed into new paper in it and returned to the same regional market.
